Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan have received Test calls from India for the first two home Tests against Australia that would be vital in determining the ICC World Test Championship finalists.
The squad has included all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, although his participation is contingent upon his readiness for the series.
India included Kishan in the Test team in place of Rishabh Pant, who has been out since the vehicle accident last month. Kishan also has regular Test backup KS Bharat as another wicketkeeping option.
The spin assault also includes Axar Patel, who is a fixture in home Tests, and Kuldeep Yadav in addition to Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Jasprit Bumrah has not been included in the squad and is still undergoing rehabilitation. Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami, and Mohammed Siraj make up the pace attack, and the recently recalled Jaydev Unadkat offers a left-arm alternative.
Both teams are playing in a crucial series as they try to secure a place in the WTC championship game. Tests will be held in Delhi, Dharamsala, and Ahmedabad before the series kicks off in Nagpur on February 9.
The following players will represent India in the first two Test matches against Australia: Rohit Sharma (captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mo
