WHAT IS JAMARCUS RUSSELL’S NET WORTH?
JaMarcus Russell is a former American football quarterback with a net worth of around $9 million. He played college football at Louisiana State University, finishing 21-4 as a starter and was named tournament MVP in 2007.
He was then selected by the Oakland Raiders with the first overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft but held out until he signed to a $61 million contract with $32 million as a guarantee.
NET WORTH DETAILS: FAILURE AND CAREER FAILURE (STATISTICS)
After signing the $61 million contract with the Raiders, he did not start the 2007 season. The coach had said:
“That way we can really control what he’s doing, play during this set time for so many plays. He doesn’t have to have everything mastered.”
Before his career, Russell had proclaimed himself:
“I’ve been playing quarterback ever since. I was always bigger and taller than the other kids, and I was always able to throw it a pretty good length of field.”
Russell started the 2007 season in the final game against the San Diego Chargers. He was injured in the game and was later replaced by Andrew Walter.
His 2008 season was moderately successful. He finished the season with back-to-back games against Houston, Texas, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In August, Russell was named the Raider’s 2009 season starter. He was later pushed to number 3, behind Bruce Gradkowski and Charlie Frye, due to his inconsistent performance.
He played the closing minutes of the final game of the season against the Denver Broncos which resulted in a win, but it would also be his last game with the Raiders. He finished the 2009 season with the lowest-rated quarterback in all statistical respects.
Here are his career stats:
Theatre plays | Statistics |
pass completed | 52.1% |
passing yards | 4,083 yards |
Touchdowns, Interceptions | 18-23 |
passerby rating | 65, 2 |

After being released by the Raiders, Russell became a free agent but was not drafted by any team. He tried out for the NFL in 2013 and 2016 but failed both times.
NFL.com ‘s Steve Wyche stated that Russell was the biggest draft bust in NFL history, and ESPN called Russell a “talented but extremely disappointing” quarterback. He’s a far cry from the golden generation of quarterbacks, including Carson Palmer, Aaron Rodgers, Alexander Smith and Tom Brady, among many others.
