The tragic life story of Chris Farley

He was at the peak of his career and lent his voice to Shrek, and then his sudden death interrupted everything. On January 17, 1997, the film ‘Ninja from Beverly Hills’ arrived in world cinemas.

Ninja from Beverly Hills is an American comedy film directed by Dennis Dugan and starring Chris Farley. Nicollette Sheridan, Nathaniel Parker, Robin Shou, Soon-Tek Oh, and Chris Rock also appear.

It was produced by TriStar Pictures and released in the United States on January 17, 1997. An old Japanese legend tells that one fine day a foreign white man would appear and become the greatest ninja that ever was. Centuries late a white baby appears inexplicably among a clan and is raised by them assuming that the prophecy has been fulfilled. That boy is Harú, however, the skill of the white ninja is far from what the legend marked, because he is clumsy.

The main role in it was played by comedian Chris Farley, who gained fame in the early ’90s with appearances on the show ‘Saturday Night Live’. Critics called the film bad, but it has gained cult status to this day through regular reruns on television.

And while slowly gaining worldwide fame, Farley struggled most of his life with alcohol and drug addiction. This caused tensions during the filming of the show ‘Saturday Night Live’ so the young actor often ended up in treatment. During 1997, it became apparent that he had addiction problems.

On October 25, he last appeared as a host on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in such poor condition that his red skin and hoarse voice were the subjects of public debate. His exhaustion was so visible that the producers almost canceled his appearance. In the last year of his life, Farley ended up in treatment 17 times.

On December 18, 1997, the actor was found dead by his younger brother in an apartment in Chicago. He was only 33 years old. An autopsy revealed she died of an overdose of a combination of morphine and cocaine. The fact that he had a weak heart due to his long addiction also contributed to his death.

The American media wrote that the night before his death he was partying with a prostitute in his apartment who ran away after she realized he died. She was scared for her. He was posthumously awarded the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005, and a documentary about him was made in 2015, entitled ‘I’m Chris Farley’.

He was also posthumously released in the film ‘Almost Heroes’, in which he starred with his famous friend Matthew Perry, another actor who has problems with drug and alcohol addiction. We can say that he had a tragic ending.
