An unprecedented amount of new ambitious projects with huge budgets is arriving. So, we are starting with an overview of the most anticipated series in 2022. Here is the list:
The new project Ave DuVernay is primarily a teenage drama, but at the same time, it is unusually related to the story of Superman and has a superheroine at the center of the plot. Superman will also become a key part of her story.
James Gunn saved The Suicide Squad and opened the door for John Cena in the role of a justice-laden Peacemaker, who despite everything is not one of the positives. The series will tell the story of how he became what he became and give us an insight into his earlier life as an avenger. Although, realistically, the character is just a contract killer willing to kill anyone in the name of “justice”.
The new Netflix horror series, based on the podcast of the same name, follows Dana, a video archivist hired to restore the mysterious tapes recorded by Melody Pandoras.
Astrid & Lilly Save the World
Buffy fans will probably be delighted by the news of a series revolving around two ordinary high school girls who accidentally open a portal to another world, so they are forced to hunt down the monsters they released and sort out what they messed up. They are not popular nor have superpowers, but they are just two ordinary teenagers.
Comedian Tiffany Haddish is becoming more and more popular, and with that come new projects. One of them is a humorous crime series in which we follow the investigation into the murder of a man whom no one loved and who perished during the graduation anniversary celebration.
Pam & Tommy
It’s a series that will probably be one of the biggest hits this year, and after seeing Lily James and Sebastian Stan as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, it became crystal clear to everyone that the roles went to the perfect actors. In addition, behind the series is the team responsible for the acclaimed I, Tonya, so everything indicates that we have a quality project ahead of us with a top team.
Proven Shonda Rimes decided to tell the true story of Anna Delvey, a fraud who pretended to be a German rich woman and in that way she took money from naive rich people. She led a fake life for four years, and in 2019 she was sentenced to two years in prison.
Have you ever thought about how the Prince of Bel-Air would look like a drama? You probably didn’t, but it was done by Morgan Cooper, who made a short film that inspired Will Smith to produce a series about a young African-American from Philadelphia who moves to Bel-Air. And while the original series is both an advantage and a burden, don’t expect a classic remake that plays the card of nostalgia. This is a serious drama that is happening nowadays.
Star Wars: Andor
We have a blockbuster television year ahead of us because, in addition to DC, Marvel, Game of Thrones, Tolkien, Witcher, and Star Trek, there are also Star Wars. As the title suggests, we follow the adventures of Cassian Andorra, a resistance fighter, and his story before the events in the film Rogue One.
Video games are legitimately a source of inspiration, and one of the more ambitious projects is Halo, based on the mega-successful franchise that is one of the strongest pillars of Microsoft’s console story. We follow Master Chief and his struggle against aliens in the 26th century.
House of the Dragon
Game of Thrones returns to the small screens, but this time as a spin-off whose action takes place 200 years before the action of the series. We follow the rise of Targaryen and expect a classic mix of brutal skirmishes, essential characters that can die every second, asses, tits, dragons, and incest.
