Alyssa Milano was among the protesters arrested on Tuesday at a demonstration outside the White House to urge action on protecting voting rights.

On this occasion, the actress also posted on her Instagram account and explained the reason for her arrest.

"I was just arrested for demanding the Biden Administration and the Senate to use their mandate to protect voting rights. Stand with me and tell the Senate and White House that voting rights shouldn’t depend on where you live," the actress wrote on her Instagram profile.

The police first warned the actress that together with the members of the Association "People for the American Way" she must move away from that area, otherwise, they will have to arrest her according to the law which forbids gathering crowds and occupying streets and sidewalks.

Sgt. Roselyn Norment, public information officer for U.S. Park Police, said that “a group affiliated with a permitted demonstration obstructed pedestrian traffic on the North White House sidewalk.” She said that 24 people were issued citations and then were released.
