What is Halala In Pakistan?

Halala is a term used in Pakistan to refer to the practice of temporary marriage or ‘nikah halala’, where a woman who has been divorced by her husband is allowed to remarry him after she has consummated a marriage with another man and then gone through the process of divorce. Under Pakistani law, a woman who has been divorced must marry another man and consummate the marriage before she can remarry her former husband. This new husband must then divorced & Khula  her in order for the first marriage to be reinstated.
