Fans of ‘Sex and the City‘ were looking forward to the return of their favorite group of New York friends in the series ‘And Just Like That’ to HBO Max, followed by a huge shock after the death of Mr. Big in the first episode from a heart attack

Chris Noth, the actor who made the role famous, has now finally explained why his character had to end his life at the beginning of the long-awaited sequel.

John Preston, or Mr. Big, suffers a heart attack after finishing his 1000th Peloton ride and ends up tragically dying in his luxury bathroom, just as Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) returns home.

Carrie finds him in the bathroom, calls him, cries and sobs, and in the second episode, we see Mr. Big’s funeral.

Everyone who watched the scene wondered, ‘Well Carrie, damn it, grab the phone and call an ambulance!

For Vogue, Noth recalled a conversation with the author of the series ‘And Just Like That’, Michael Patrick King, about the death of his character.

‘One thing Michael and I agreed on: we both called it Bonnie and Clyde’s moment, and that’s the moment when Bonnie and Clyde are shot. Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, they look at each other and know very well that this is the end, ‘said the 67-year-old actor.

He adds that according to him, that scene was very beautiful.

We knew we had to have that, that Big just shouldn’t have died alone in the bathroom. There had to be that last moment and no words, no shabby dialogue, just a look, and I think King made it very beautiful. It was very important for both of us to find a way to spend that last moment together, not for her to come in and find Big dead in the bathroom. That was important to me when we arranged my return. And all that’s left is chemistry with SJP … We’ve known each other for a long time, ‘he explains.

In that interview, Chris Noth also revealed that he didn’t like the idea of dying that much at first.

“Still, I always knew that Michael Patrick King was completely dedicated to the script, filming, and editing, so I felt very comfortable with that act of death in the series,” Noth said.
